I have been seeking a Mountie for some time but just bought a 39-A Golden. It is an oldie, and I can't read the serial number, but it does say Marlin 39-A Golden on the barrel. It has a straight grip stock (like a Mountie), but a 24-inch barrel like the regular 39-A. Has anyone ever seen a (non-Mountie) 39-A with straight-grip? I can't seem to find any info

Redmarlinryder;

Hmmmm, I suspect that some swapping mighta been done with that gun. Might want to go over to the Marlin 39 Club thread here & put the question to the 39 nutforce over there.

Marlin made some Model 39-A 24 inch barreled rifles with a straight stock and slender fore arm as the Model 39-A "Mountie".
The fact that there was also a 39-M "Mountie" carbine is confusing.

The 39-A "Mountie" with the 24" barrel was sold from 1953 to 1972.
There was also a 39-A "Mountie" known as the "K" prefix with a 24" barrel.
There were 4,335 made only in 1953. These "K" series versions are collectible.
