39-A Golden Non-Mountie Straight Stock?

I have been seeking a Mountie for some time but just bought a 39-A Golden. It is an oldie, and I can't read the serial number, but it does say Marlin 39-A Golden on the barrel. It has a straight grip stock (like a Mountie), a squared lever, but a 24-inch barrel like the regular 39-A. Has anyone ever seen a (non-Mountie) 39-A with straight-grip? I can't seem to find any info.
