Now that the 4th generation Glocks are out, are they going to stop making the 3rd generation? Will these disappear?

The reason I ask is that I own a 3rd generation G19, it's my favorite handgun, and I believe it to be the best all around handgun currently produced. I handled the 4th generation at a gun shop and I didn't care for it. Should I buy another 3rd gen. G19 now before they all disappear?

I personally would not worry about not being able to find a Gen 3 Glock, and hold off on buying another one.. Glocks are one of the most mass produced handguns in the world.. They are a dime a dozen at my local gun shops... :)

one national wholsaler currently only has green framed (ugh!) and RTF (LOTS of em) but no gen 4 19's either...another of the big 4 wholesalers has RFT 19's and Night sight 19's a plenty but no standard fixed sight models other than a few 10rd mag packaged ones. Keep in mind GLOCK will fall behind on certain models various times of the year as they fill contracts ect...and I'm sure they are cranking out the newer versions then will probably go back and catch up other orders. It happens throughout the year...almost every year there's a period almost every model is suddenly out...then a month month and a half later they are all sticked up again...I wouldn't worry about it....but nothing wrong with getting two of something you love either....sooner or later they will bugger up the version you like...a lot of us used to like that straight grip better when the finger grooved frame came out...some hated the rail to...I can't shoot the 19/23 comfy with the FG's One reason I own an XD9 4" (well TWO actually-LOL) But oddly I LOVE the G21SF...they actually FIT my fingers right...and the dang grip feels like it was made for me! I traded my XD45 I had just bought for one....I'm in love with that gun...may get a G30SF to go with it!

Glock has stated that the Gen 3 will remain in production. Glock is at that point of critical mass where any change at all would Kaboom the whole factory. They need to stay the way they are, but they need to change with the times as well. It's a darned if you do, or darned if you don't.

So the Gen3's ain't going anywhere for a while. And I've heard that the RTF's come with straght slots on the slide. No more goofy gills. Maybe Glock listens to us afterall?...........

I need to learn about the Gen 4. I like the grip texture on the one I shot way way better than the Gen3.

A Gen4 G22 might fit my needs.

I have heard and read that there have been problems with the Gen 4's and one should stay with the Gen 3's. Anyone care to comment?
