Steel wool will remove the oxidation and ruin the blueing unless you decide to reblue them.
Sadly, there are some pitting but mostly is superficial.

What happened to you 1KPerDay is one of my worst nightmares. I didn’t read any replies so don’t know the final outcome. Let me just say I fervently hope it all works out or has worked out well for you.

Does anyone work as a smith or assistant in a shop and would be willing to quote me a price for disassembly, cleaning, rust removal/mitigation, reassembly per gun? I need a couple of quotes for the insurance adjuster. I'm not going to a smith, and the insurance adjuster understands this, but I need a quote from a couple of smiths to justify my price/claim. Any help welcome. Ideally around $90 per gun but anything works.
