Ruger started making a 4" Redhawk around 4 - 5 years ago. I bought one, used in Jan. for $525. Love it! Recently shot a 3 shot 50 yard group off the bench (actually off handle bars on ATV) with all three shots touching, probably a lot of luck involved there. The grip is a little thick, front to back, but does a decent job with the recoil. The gun is a little heavy at 51.5 ozs., loaded with six 240gr. bullets, but when shooting .44 mags, weight is your best friend. You could probably shoot several boxes of .44 mag ammo through this gun at one setting without it wearing you out. Shooting it with .44 specials is no big deal, but carrying with .44 specials is, it's just too heavy to carry for the power you get from a .44 special cartridge. Personally, if I wanted to carry something like a .44 special, I get out my 1911 .45, much easier to carry, or buy a Glock or other light weight .45. You didn't say which 44 ammo you were going to be shooting. There are lots of pictures on the internet of this gun, just google 4" Redhawk.
