any of you guys carry a 4" k frame concealed regularly?
if so pictures would be appreciated of holsters and carry methods

particularly fat guys like myself.

It's no different than concealing a medium frame semiauto. I normally carry a Glock 19, but I love my S&W model 10, 4" heavy barrel. I usually carry the Glock IWB but the S&W OWB. Just takes a little bit longer shirt to cover it. A t-shirt will work, if you get a dark shirt or one with print, some brands are longer than others.

This is my M10-6, but for carry I have smaller walnut grips, but they're well-worn, and the rosewood grips just look so much nicer. I've got another holster that has more cant to it, and both work well. I made both (see my sig). Concentrate on the holster in the picture, and don't look at my huge butt.

im a big guy, and i generally wear long shirts, but i was concerned with the grips poking into my lovehandles. Looks like your gun rides pretty high so the shirt doesnt have to be extremely long.

Buy "tall" shirts ;)

It's not usually a problem for me, unless I have to be crawling around on the ground, or leaning over the front fender of a truck to do something under the hood.

Besides, I mostly just carry open in the summer, and concealed in the winter.

It's amazing how much easier a 3" K frame totes than a 4" if you are carrying IWB. OWB, I don't know that it'd matter.

That's really why I normally pocket carry. I do small engine work and am always under a mower changing blades or something. Don't have the option of open carry, here. Maybe I need to move to Montana. Don't know if they mow lawns up there, but I could always become a dental floss wrangler. (okay, forget that last one if you don't know who Frank Zappa is)

I am waiting for my holster to come in from Don Hume, an IWB for my 4 inch Smith 10-8. I just need to take the huge Pachmeyer Presentation grips off, put some originals back on with a Tyler T-Grip adapter.

Here in Wyoming, it's not uncommon to wear boots. I have my sig in a modified boot holster. I've also made it possible to carry my 4" "K" model 13. Of course, you don't want to wear tight straight leg jeans. The boot cuts or semi flared type are much more comfortable for that and make the weapon unnoticable no matter. I'll try to get some pics. later... Mike...

More power to you guys but an all steel 4" K frame seems pretty heavy to carry all day. Now a K frame airweight on the order of the old model 12 is something I would really be interested in.

Wore a 4" Security Six in a Milt Sparks AW200 on a 1 3/4" belt for work for years, usually under a wool shirt or light jacket. It's still my CCW piece. No problems, and a lot easier to shoot well than shorter, lighter guns.

You get used to it.

You *don't* get used to a M28, though.

^^^

Nice, the FBI load. I just bought 150 rounds of this stuff, I can't believe that they still load it. It shoots very accurately and has been doing its job for a looooong time :D It's also a lot cheaper to stock up on than bonded HPs.

Mod 66 in an old Bucheimer holster. I can conceal it, if necessary, under a long overshirt or jacket.

To be honest, you'd be amazed what people don't notice. Even if it's poking out under a t-shirt.

I was going to say the same thing. Actually, I think I just did...

I'm looking for OWB for a K 4" myself. I've got till fall at least, so I've got plenty of time to shop around. Glad to have found this thread to see what works and what doesn't (of course, everything on the internet is factual info, but I've found most opinions here to jibe with reality for the most part).

I was thinking about a thigh holster under a kilt, myself, but would that be considered to be underwear, and not traditionally appropriate?

We are all built differently; I found a 4" N-frame more stable IWB than a 3" N-frame, worn at 0330.
