I have two old Remington #4's. I have been getting them back in shooting order and still cannot find anything out about build dates.

They are s/n'd in the 352,xxx and 354,xxx ranges. Both are late series take downs with round knurled bolts, shiney bores.

They have s/n's on the barrels in front of the forearms and on the receivers under the markings, both are matching on both guns. They were made late in the production which ended in 1933 or 34.

I know Remington had a date code scheme and neither of these rifles have anything like that as far as I can tell. The only thing on the barrel other than roll marks and s/n's are the marking "EAU" and I have seen a "U" as a proof mark before and an "X".

Any ideas? One of them is heading to my nephew and I'd like to compile a little info for it before it leaves.
