I'm told Remington will answer that question over the phone as I have not been able to find a source online. These were made 1890-1933 and something like 356,000 were produced.
I have a couple of No.4-S Remington .22s. They are two of the 3 variations of the S. I got great detailed info from another poster who was kind enough to send me info that came directly from the book "Remington 22 Rimfire Rifles" by John Gyde and Roy Marcot.
There was a combined total of 15,000 made of the three S variations.
I highly recommend the book for info on your No. 4.
