Keep in mind, several factory 10mm loadings give the same ballistics as .40 ammo. (When I shot some 180 Hydra Shock ammo over the chronograph, the 10mm version in a G29 was only 18 fps. faster than the .40 in a G23). Most guns seem to run just fine, whether shooting the full-powered stuff, or the "10mm Lite" loads, and without having to mess with recoil springs.
I played with a Colt Delta Elite in USPSA Single Stack one summer. I had intended to have a .40 barrel fit to the gun, but never got there. So I just loaded 10mm brass to make Major Power Factor, same as if I'd been loading .40 ammo. For this I used some 165 gr. Extreme bullets with 6.2 gr. of Win 231, which gave a velocity of 1062 fps. in that gun. I had put a lighter spring in the gun, but I've run those in another Colt Delta with the factory dual spring setup and they cycle that one with no issue as well.
If you want some light loads, pull out a reloading manual and pick some of the starting loads with one of the faster-burning powders and see if they will run in your gun. If not, bump up the load a bit or try a slightly slower burning powder.
