Hello. When I had a .40 Hi Power, I loaded Rucker 180-gr. CFP's over 5.8 gr. Unique. Velocity was just under 1,000 ft/sec. Accuracy was very good in that gun and a couple of other Hi Powers that fellows tried that load in.
I have loaded 4.5gr of Bullseye with a 180gr LSWC and it was fairly hot.
I currently shoot 3.7gr of Bullseye with the same 180gr. LSWC and I Like the reduced recoil. This load Cycles the slide with no problem and seems way more accurate then the WWB wally world ammo I have been shooting.
Just My opinion.
I have 500 180 grain Oregon Trail laser cast bullets loaded with 5.1 grains of Unique. My alliant guide list's the max load for lead at 5.5 grains. This is a good load, mild recoil, very accurate, no barrel leading. I would stay under 5.5 grains.
I know you said 180 grains, but I though I'd mention an option unless you don't want to use a SWC. The Oregon Trails/LaserCast 170 gr. SWC over 6.4 grains of Ramshot True Blue in Win, or Rem cases ignited by a CCI-500 primer @ 1.130" is a tackdriver in my CZ 75 B! For IDPA, you could run it a little lower, but 6.4 is not a max charge anyway. One hole capability.
