has anyone fired the 40 shield how is the recoil in that small of platform,
been eyeballing one at lgs for $419,
I would like to stay with 40 cal as I reload for it have other full sized handguns
in that caliber,
I will use it for carry but was wondering about recoil in a small gun
Thanks

I had a 9 and 40 at the same time for a while, not much difference.
I ended up with the 40.

Little more kick with the 40 but not too bad. My lady friends shoot the 40 but they prefer their 9mm Shields.

If I carried the Shield, I'd carry the 40 over my 9mm.

I rented one at the range and put about 75 rounds through it. I was pleasantly surprised at how manageable is was. I don't know how much you gain with the .40 over the 9 as far as ballistics are concerned, but from where I stand the .40 Shield is a good option.

I was out shooting awhile back comparing the 9mm and the .40, I was shooting up an old steel computer case. The .40s went right on through, the 9mms, went in and stayed -- didn't come out the other side! Not a real technical examination of the ballistics, but if a computer case can provide cover for the bad guy... I'll select the .40.

recoil ?? That's something you have to figure out for your self. A shield ain't a range gun so you shoot it enough to know its reliable over a few trips and then run 25 to 50 rounds every couple weeks cto once a month could be the norm. Its a light pistol that can offer a snappy recoil. and not a range gun. Personal I do not think it a bad pistol to shoot in 40 but I prefer to shoot a 9mm in that size pistol. I would buy the 9mm in the shield if you have limited small handgun experience.

I tested both quite a bit before i ended up with the 9. The only reason i ended up with the 9 was because i have other hgs in 9. If my shop would have only had the 40 in stock when i went to buy the 9 i would have picked up the 40 without hesitation.

The 40 certainly has more noticable recoil. I wouldnt call it uncomfortable to shoot bur it wasnt exactly fun either. Curiously enough, I was more accurate with the 40.

well I ended up with the 9mm shield lgs had it in stock for $399 picked it up for
myself for christmas, my full sized handguns are in 40 cal, this will be my edc concealed, I think the 9mm will work well in a small package that the wife can use to

Congrats. Same thing I ended up with. Really like the way it feels. Just have not had a chance to shoot it yet.
