I have a recollection, sometime recently, reading a forum post from a guy who had Charter fit a .45 Colt cylinder on his .45 ACP Pitbull. (Or was it the other way around?). So, yeah, can be done, and Charter is game for doing special orders and customizations like that.
From what I have heard and read .. you can order a 45acp or 45 Colt complete cylinder assembly from Charter ... one screw and bamm ! It’s changed

lee n. field...

Thanks for relaying the info... just might have to look into that.

Versatilty is a good thing... especially nowadays.

mongoslow whats it like reloading? Would loading from an auto mag work well? What about extraction is it reliable/quick? I have a sp101 9mm and really like the moon clips as far as quick reloads but have been interested in the pitbull for the not needing moon clips.

I loaded it out of a spare mag pretty easily. It will take you a little practice to get smooth at it. As for extraction it worked fine with the 115 gr and 124 grain brass case ammo, the 124 grain +p with the Nicole finish i had the star jump a single empty on 2 different reloads, I don't know if it was the same cylinder or not though. The 147 grain +p Buffalo Bore didn't extract worth a crap only one empty extracted on 2 different reloads the extractor jumped the rim on the rest and I had to poke them out with a pencil, but those suckers were hot and swelled the cases to the cylinder firmly

Sounds like if you stick to standard pressure they eject pretty reliably. I don't use plus p in 9mm so it might be a good option for me. Not reassuring the plus p is sticking but I could see that being the only issue. If you read places that will convert .357s to 9mm they say plus p will stick in their conversions.

Well it was Buffalo Bore's hottest 147 grain...I would hesitate to shoot it in my 43x, it would be more suited to a G19 or P229
