I was thinking if it was possible to load 40cal in 45cal sabot, like they do for muzzleloading rifles,to be used in taurus judge? My idea is to get high velocity round that could be used as bear defense, since judge is not made for all those great +P loads, could this work? Please help!

No .40 cal bullet will be as effective as any .45 Colt load or a .410 slug. Doubt you'll find the right size sabot anyway.
Mind you, you'll never be fast enough to deal with Yogi if he's under 100 yards. He can cover 100 yards in less than 6 seconds.

410 slug is as heavy as 380 bullet, and its made of soft lead, and as I said there are great 300grain +p loads for 45lc but judge can't handle those.180grain fmj 40cal bullet at 1100-1150fps would give 10mm auto ballistic with higher penetration than standard 45lc loads?maybe use 454 case to fit sabot.Barnes makes 45cal sabots, but what powder and how much?:banghead:

WHY?????? Get some reloads with a heavy bullet (255grns.) over a healthy dose of Unique and that should work. Stay within the book loads and you will still get plenty of power. If you need more than that, get a rifle or shotgun with slugs.

I would suggest a substantially larger caliber handgun than a Judge if the goal is bear defense. No need to try anything 'exotic' or just plain silly. There are plenty of ready made rounds and handguns, though anything in a pistol could be marginal against a P.O.'d bear.

Won't work

BTDT have the t shirt

Muzzle loader sabots are forced into the rifling and stay that way all the way down to the powder charge.

When loaded in a Centerfire cartridge they must make that unsupported jump from case to rifling across the leade (in your case forcing cone) at which point the skirt blows out around the bullet
