.41 Mag Association

Super Redhawk in .41 in house tonight. LGS called today and said the SRH in 41 arrived and was ready for pick-up. If I was a little more tech savvy I'd post a picture. If work allows I'll head to the range tomorrow.

Took the new Super Redhawk 41 to the range on Saturday. A couple of friends and I collectively put 75 rounds thru the gun. As is the case with most Rugers, the trigger pull was nothing to write home about. The recoil was almost nil as we were shooting powderpuff loads (all I had with me) The best group was 12 shots at just under 2"(15 yds offhand) In the next few weeks I'm going to mount a scope (rings were included) and work up a batch of potential hunting loads. It looks like I have another summer project to fine tune and get ready for November.

Sounds like fun Bush Pilot.

Wow we have 42 pages for the .41!!!!!!:what:

Seems like the .41 just keeps on keeping, not the most popular cartridge in the world, but it's right at the top of the list for usefulness!!!!:)

Indeed, Frank. Indeed.

Today is a day I've been looking forward to for almost a month. I *get to* start the 10-day-wait via the necessary CA DOJ paperwork on my 4-5/8" .41 Mag 3-screw RBH. The gun is already paid for, and as you've already seen there's ammunition waiting for it here at home. :D

Next on the list is some nice leather to carry it with.

In fact, when rereading your post, sir, I see a new post signature! Hahaha... thank you. :)

I think that's absolutely as good as one can make a Super Redhawk look. It's beyond liptstick on a pig; it's a full makeover! ;)

Holy Toledo, Ohio. Now THAT is a Ruger Redhawk banquet right there. A real bash, blowout, feast, fete, a gala get-together, and an orgy! :D
:)
But wait! There's more!
Those are the Davidson's Exclusives, here is the Davidson's 4.2" with it's older siblings.

Here is my best 25 yard offhand target with the Super Redhawk .41 Magnum.

and all the rounds from 25 yards.

It gets to be a wee bit tiring holding that big revolver up there and on target while squeeeezing through the trigger creep until it breaks at an average of 4lbs. 10 oz.

Targets were shot using my standard load of 8.1 grain of Unique under a Lyman 410459 220gr SWC.
Three cylinders full of 210gr JHP over 21.0gr of H110 with the 2.75" Redhawk is plenty in one session for me, but the 7.5" Super Redhawk took all the sting out of them.

Hahaha! INDEED, my good man.

And I thought you had S&W covered! Holy Moley. :what:

I don't know how heavy your Redhawks are, but I can only imagine your fatigue (and see it! Hee. Seriously, though; nice shooting before you became wobbly) working those DA triggers.

(Six more days until my 3-screw .41 Blackhawk comes home!)

:)

NICE ko.... Will be interesting with a scope seeing what kind of groups can be had at 50-100 yards...

The Super Redhawk with 4x B&L scope out shoots my Henry Big Boy Steel with 3x scope.

I'm still struggling with the creep and somewhat heavy trigger pull of the Super Redhawk but am pleased with the results on the 50 yard targets.
I am not at all pleased with the accuracy of the Henry BBS. I've tried a different scope, various sizes, shapes and diameters of cast bullets, powders, jacketed and plated bullets and I can shoot better groups with my Marlin .41 Mag rifles with Skinner peep sights and a scoped revolver. :banghead:

The Super Redhawk still bucks with heavier loads but it absorbs all the sting instead of your hand.

ko, you're a tough act to follow...:p

My 30-day+10-day wait is over, and I was able to take delivery of this 4-5/8" 1967 Old Model Blackhawk in .41 Magnum. This one's a keeper!

I took it to a local indoor range along with 50 rounds of some new-Starline-brass bulk 210 gr FMJ loads made by a local ammunition manufacturer/retailer, LAX Ammunition. I put those into the posted target's center mass and once I found elevation (six o'clock hold for 10 yds) I now need to move the rear sight one click to the right...

The five rounds aimed at the head are a 5-round sample of some 200 rds of the NOS 210 gr PMC I've posted before and while these were certainly hotter loads they were also more accurate. Three rounds tried to go through the same hole? What the heck? Alrightythen!

It's a railing with a height about an inch below shooting bench level. This cellphone's camera lens has a fairly short focal length; it's a fairly wide angle which distorts perspective. There are a few bullet holes, though, along the rail cap!

Hey 200Apples!

Nice gun for sure and I picked up a used 3-Screw just like it a few years ago. It didn't like full power factory ammo and kept spitting the base pin. I keep my re-loads on the mild side as I'm just punching paper and plinking. I checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong with it, but replaced it with a Belt Mountain Pin and latch (base pin has a small set-screw) and no problems. Do you know if this was an issue with the older units, or maybe that's why the guy sold the gun i the first place.

.
Thanks, FullClip.

As for your base pin problem, that's pretty strange. The base pin on my .41 Blackhawk is the same 1/4" diameter as the base pin on my .44 Super Blackhawk and folks have run some pretty spicy loads through these things. Blackhawks are built like tanks.

.41 mag is a respectable round, I've seen a 335 lb. boar taken with it. It was a Smith&Wesson, 6" barrel.
