"The next step is handloading for the .410, if I can track down some suitable powder...

Believe it or not, H-110/WW-296. Check it out.

the 600 mec is a good press for a hunter, but is as slow as molasses in january. for any amount of shooting a 650 mec would be better and a 650 mec grabber would be even better. eastbank.

I have a few 410s, but my favorite is an Ithica. I can't remember the model, but it's a single shot breakover. The neat thing about it is that to break it over, it has a lever like a winchester 30-30 as opposed to something next to the hammer. You just pull the lever and the barrels falls down
Had just 1 like you described, first shotgun.

Add the primer feed and speed increases dramatically.

On those new mossberg 500's

Are they drilled and tapped for an optics mount?

I've got a revelation 410 bolt action that's just as light and svelt as any other firearm I own.

Another old head with four-ten fever. I prefer the little gun over all other shotshells.

My main pursuit is Sporting Clays. With a good, properly fitted gun, and premium ammo, targets can be broken at surprisingly long ranges.

I have two tournament O/U's, both with Briley subgauge tube sets. Both guns have 2 1/2" chambers for the Idiot Stick.

My powder of choice is Alliant's new 300-MP, but there are numerous powders that work well in the 410.

I only load a half-ounce of Eight's in the Little Fellow.

In my youth, I hunted with a Winchester M-42. Rabbit, dove, and squirrel harvesting machine.
