A 10/22 is a lot more versatile than a .410, from target shooting to small-game hunting to self-defense. A .410 can do some of those things, but not as economically, as conveniently, or as well, in my opinion. (Though you can’t hunt flying birds with a 10/22, a .410 wouldn’t be my choice for that either.)
I alsi agree with the suggestion that if you ever do get a shotgun, go with 20 gauge instead of .410. You can get light recoiling loads for 20ga, but at the same time it is much more effective if you do any hunting or skeet/clays shooting someday, and from a self-defense standpoint it far outclasses .410.
