Not really interested in larger-bore calibers that hurt me when I shoot them but an associate at work is and he made a comment that I couldn't confirm through personal knowledge and I thought the forum membership might know...

Is .458 Winchester Magnum ammo common in comparison to .416 Remington Magnum?

I would have thought that neither would be turned out in any great numbers and I honestly have never even looked at any gun store that I've ever entered to see if they stocked either caliber. I stop at about .308 for personal use and have only ever looked for .338 Win Mag at the largest.

Both are easily available in any large and well-stocked gun shop, at least in Southern California. Both can also easily be ordered from catalogs. Cabela's carries them, for instance. HTH!

< edit > Upon rereading, I'm wondering if perhaps your question is about which is more available. Seems to me that .458 stuff is slightly more common in the shops, but that's based on casual observation, as my heavy is a Rigby.
