Though I own two revolvers (for Cowboy Action Shooting) I am and always have been an auto type of guy.

Lately I've been seeing more and more stuff about the .44 Mag round. I've never fired that particular cartridge because it is primarily a revolver cartridge which got me to wondering:

Is there any semi-auto pistol made that uses the .44 Mag. I'm pretty sure there was once (I think someone once told me that an auto just couldn't handle the power behind a .44 Mag) but don't have a clue if there still is.

If there is who makes it?

If there isn't - well - why not?

44 mag semi autos

Magnum Research make a BIG HONKIN' semi auto in 44 mag called the Desert Eagle. :what:

The L.A.R. Grizzly 4 Magnum is out of print but can still be found in the used guns cases of your local gun mart.

It is not as honkin big as the Desert Eagle whose grip resembles the fat end of a baseball bat to me.

The Grizzly is just a scaled up Colt/Browning design and is made of very well fit machined parts. Here's a picture of my .44 Magnum.

It's a shooter, bud. If you ever get over my way we can take it to the range near my house.
