240 gr PBR 240 gr JHP fired from 6" barrel Herter's single action revolver through four layers of denim into calibrated 10% ordnance gelatin. I *think* this is an XTP, but I can't confirm.

BB: 593.4 fps, 3.1"

Impact velocity: 1,532 fps
Penetration: 14.6"
Retained weight: 224.8 gr
Max expansion: 0.862"
Min expansion: 0.566"

LOL, right? Maybe a bit more recoil and muzzle blast than is ideal for defensive use, but the terminal performance doesn't get much better.

Looks like a XTP to me also. That said, while having excellent expansion in revolvers, I have quit using them for hunting deer in my carbines because of over-expansion and no exit hole. Something I've found Nosler JSPs are better at.

I'm really surprised by the lack of penetration. I've seen more penetration from 200 gr XTP gel tests for 10mm Auto. That would usually be in the 1200-1250 fps range when loaded correctly and almost always gets closer to 16 inches than 14 in any test I have seen.
I would like to see the .44 load tested out of a shorter barrel. I am curious how a shorter, say, 4"barreled revolver might affect performance. Usually a drop in velocity will reduce expansion and increase penetration. I'd also like to see the 10mm load tested from a longer barreled carbine. I've never been into pistol caliber carbines but have always wanted a MP10 SBR. I good true to spec 10mm MP5 with a Navy trigger group. Ya

Anyways, thanks for the info.
