Picked up a new (to me) SS Ruger Super Red Hawk in .44 mag and got out to the range today. What a great gun. Yes, if you look up recoil in the dictionary there will be picture of it, but it is fun! Very easy to aim, and after a couple of cylinders of mags, a .357 or 1911 feels like .22, ande .44 spl is very mild. Can't wait to shoot at some reactive targets with it.

OK, I confess. I have two addictions in pistol shooting:
a. .44 Mag in revolvers (S&W M629 Classics) and
b. .45 ACP in 1911's (Wilson Classics).

FYI, I shoot a field load (200 gr cast bullet at 1100 fps) and a full power hunting load (255 gr cast bullet at 1425 fps). The field load is fun and the full power load is serious! Enjoy your new Red Hawk. The extra weight in it will tame the .44 Mag recoil somewhat better than the S&W's.

Good shooting and be safe.

Yes, your Super Redhawk is a great candidate for reloading! My 6" 629-1 lives primarily on 240gr SWCs @ 1000-fps. Very mild, easy to shoot and still packs more muscle than the vaunted .45 ACP! :neener: Would love to knock down some pepper-poppers with this brute.

Ruger makes a great gun. Unfortunately I have the itch for a nice 5.5-7.5" barreled single-action .44. Those Anniversary models look like just the ticket.
