I haven't been able to find H110 for a while.
So I decided to try CFE pistol to work up some Stout bear loads.
I currently have a few
.430 diameter 250 grain Keith bullets sitting on top of 11.3 grains of CFE pistol.
Haven't had a chance to test them yet. Has anybody used a similar load and if so what kind of performance are you getting.

I don't see CFE giving you near the performance as H110/W296 for stout bear loads. Just ain't gonna happen. CFE is more for pistol calibers and light revolver loads. You'd have much better luck in .44 mag with IMR4227 or 2400. 800X would work as would AA#9 and others. JMTCs.

Where did you get the load data for your powder charge?

I was using hodgdon site.
Comparing their data for a 240 and 270 grain bullet.

I'll look into some of the other powders you mentioned.

I'm sure CFE-P has a suitable use. So far I haven't found anything it outperforms personally. I've only used it in 38 Super, 45 acp, and my dad loaded some in 40S&W. Hodgdon data maxed out hasn't been impressive in any of those despite the literature saying it's ideal for all 3.

I've tried CFE Pistol in 45 Auto, ,357, and 44 Magnum. It was a major disappointment in the 45, and not particularly noteworthy in the 357. It was fine for mid-range loads in the 44 Mag. But in the 44 it's not going to produce velocities as high as the slower powders (like H110).
