44 magnum with magnum primers?

No!

Any handload, regardless of "substituted components", should have a load workup. New to you cartridge reloading calls for a new work up. Any change in components should have a new workup. "Reloading 101". Guessing at load data can possibly work (?), but I for one don't guess about anything reloading. I have reloaded using these "rules" for over 40 years safely...

BTW; asking/using load data from a forum in covered in my "Rule #1" I don't even consider it...
OK, thank you.

I haven't used a mag pistol primer since my metal can of W-296 ran out.

The only reason I keep some magnum pistol primers on hand is W296 one of my favorite powders for full power 357 Magnum loads.

I do try to not use them where standard primers work fine. But have on occasions.

But, I have been reloading long enough that I account for shortages.
