44 magnum question

Good grief. I don't even use TiteGroup in .44 SPECIAL cases. It's SOOOO dense that I found I could charge the case FIVE times before it was overflowing. (I'll bet you could SEPTUPLE-charge a Magnum case!) That means that if you double...maybe even TRIPLE... charge a case accidentally, you'll never notice it visually. I consider that a needless additional danger.

Use something bulkier that gives you no question about whether you've charged the case properly or not.

The cc/grain index is not that different for Tightgroup than lots of other powders, and Tightgroup is not the lowest. I think this is too dramatic, because the .44 cases are plenty wide to see down inside. It is the .357 magnum that I find problematic, but still good lighting means the use of any powder is not ruled out.

Yup, you can work around it if you have some reason to NEED to use the powder. I just like to eliminate such things when I can. Don't much care for tiny charges rattling around in large cases anyway.

Titegroup is great in some stuff. 9mm and the like.

A magnum primer will not cause any ill effects with a non-magnum powder. They just burn a little longer than standard primers.

I've been reloading 44mag since the early 60's and my opinion is stick with a fast enough burning powder so you don't have to use magnum primers. It will really throw you off between long range and medium range shooting.Just my opinion. Also magnum primers are not alway available.:)
