Looking at reloading some .44 's but saw two recipes for the .44....special and Remington......whats the difference?

Will be getting a .44 magnum...

The difference between the 44 special and the 44 magnum is like the difference between the 38 special and the .357 magnum. They both use the same sized bullets but the "special" uses a shorter case and is loaded to a lower pressure, and thus a lower velocity.

You can shoot 44 special in a gun chambered for 44 mag but you can't shoot 44mag out of a gun chambered for 44 special since the bullets would be too long and the pressures would be too high.

Back when, people wanted a more power out of the .44 Special, just like with the .38 Special. After a lot of testing and work, the ammo and gun companies began making the .44 Magnum, and the .357 Magnum.

Do a search here and you'll probably find a bunch of informtion.
