This question is in regards to the gun, not the ammo.

Why is the Raging Bull 454 approximately $100-150 bucks more than a Raging Bull 44 mag? From a manufactuering standpoint, I don't see the difference in the two guns.

The .454 may have a different heat treating process to allow it to handle the higher pressure.

I can think of a few possible reasons why there may be a price difference.

1) A different heat treat than other revolvers as mentioned above.

2) Different alloy.

3) Lower volumes than the .44 Magnum version, causing an increase in per piece indirect costs.

4) It is a .454 Casull; therefore, a higher price can be charged.

There is a price differential in the Ruger .44Mag vs .454/.480 - but they do employ a different alloy and heat treating in the newer and larger calibers. BTW, the SRH has been cheaper than similar RB's everywhere I have seen them offered. Odd... and it has better ergonomics, is American made, and... it is a six-shooter!

I have looked at, and like the Ruger SRH, but I honestly prefer the Bull more. I like the full lugg barrel, and the grip better. The Bull just looks better (in my eyes). I have heard alot of good reports about both the Bull and SRH.
