Can anyone reccoment a good hot load for 320gr lead cast using vv N110 in 44mag? I can not seem to find much info on 320gr for 44mag in general.

Thanks

Do you have a chrono? If so, and you know how to "map" a load:

Take the data for a hornady 300gr XTP, back off about 15 percent, and work up slowly from there.

I would make sure the bullets arent too long for the revolver cylinder when they are seated to the crimp groove.

The 320 grain .44 mag bullet was designed for silouhette competition IIRC. They were designed to be shot out of a thompson contender or other single shot pistol, and may not be SAFELY usable in a revolver.

You can probably find the loads for these bullets listed in most manuals under the section that deals with contender/ silouhette loads.

Here is some standard pressure data from the Hodgdon websit for heavier bullets

Yeah, forgot about the length issue. I run my 325 grainers in a SRH, they are a little long for my other 44's.

If no one has you any farther data by tommorow, I'll try to post some data from my 325 loads. (the data's at home, and I'm not)

Thanks for your replies. I inherited some of these 320gr bullets from a family member. They are Cast Performance 320gr WLNGC. I only use N110 powder (as my reloading needs are very basic and I usually load the same round) and would like to find a nice load with that. Getting some other powder is not out of the question, but hopefully not neccessary.

Regarding the length, the crimp groove on these bullets is about .43" from the top, putting the oal at a little better than 1.7". This will easily fit in my raging bull.

I've been told that with the right charge, you can launch one of these bullets to over 1400fps. I am not expecting that N110 will do that, but would like to see what it can do.

Thanks for your input!

You're right, speed-wise N110 won't get you0 there(safely anyway). But what it should do is get you around 1200, burn very cleanly, and should be very accurate.

on the same subject, I have some hard cast 310 gr and some 345 gr 44 mag any good sources for loads for those ? I cant seem to find info in my reload manuals.
