I haven’t been reloading for the last few years, and I’m working on a batch of .45-70 for deer season. I’m going slow and being very cautious, since I haven’t done it in so long.
The brass I’m working with has been shot twice (3-4 years ago) at lever action pressure levels, and it’s trimmed a little short for the Hornady FTX bullets. It’s Winchester brass.
After resizing and depriming, I noticed that each casing has a bright line near the case head as pictured. It’s right where the case starts to taper.
I probed the inside of the case wall with a length of wire and couldn’t feel any sort of apparent variation in the case thickness there.
Do y’all think I’m looking at a case head separation waiting to happen, or is it just an artifact of the resizing die?
Thanks in advance.
