I read the string below but I'm asking something a little different. Using a standard 230 gr. FMJ bullet, what is your proven favorite load using Bullseye or Unique? Looking for standard (or near) velocity loads. Nothing fancy, just what works for you. Thanks.

230Gr FMJ with bullseye.

4.5Gr's Bullseye makes a good medium load. 4.9 would be more of a hot load. OAL 1.260.

Alliant Relaoding Data has 5.0Gr's of bullseye to be max's for a 230 FMJAlways start 10% below the MAX load and work your way up.

I have been using the following load for years and have had very good results with in both 1911's and S&W 625.

230gr FMJRN bullet, 4.5 grs of Bullseye powder, Winchester Large Pistol Primers, and an OAL of 1.260"

Good luck and keep burning powder!

4.9 grns bullseye, 230 grn Seirra FMJ, Starline brass, CCI300 primers 1.265 to 1.270 COL is my standard 45 load. Does 830 +/- 5 out of my PII.

I'm using a light load for steel plates. 5.2grains Unique, 230FMJ at 1.260 OAL. Functions well in a G30. I may not set the world on fire, but recovery time between shots is great and it holds POA = POI out to 25 yards.

I measured some S&B and Winchester USA rounds, they measure 1.260 or thereabouts, so I patterned my load based on this standard OAL. It works.

I have also run through some 230FMJs with 5.4 grains of Unique at 1.230 OAL. They also functioned fine, but I wanted to minimize recovery time so went to the 5.2grains @ 1.260 and have been happy with it.

Coincidentally, I also use 5.2 grains Unique behind a 180 grain FMJ in a 40S&W. Also use this for steel plate shoots in a G23. It will not reliably cycle a Ruger P944 but works great in the Glock.
