I just received my Dillon SDB back from them for a clean up. The press looks great and they replaced several parts during the process. I could not be happier with their service.

I have read through several reloading books and have been reading through postings on several forums and I have one basic (and hopefully simple) question regarding the OAL.

I tried the recommend OAL of 1.270 and my Ruger P90 would not feed at all - the good news is no misfires and the gun and I both returned home safe with only a bruised ego . . .

I have now learned about the "barrel drop test" and it seems my Ruger likes no more than an OAL 1.250 to stay flush.

Using MBC 230 grain Softball bullets in cleaned up mixed range brass, I am planning to start with a few rounds loaded with 5.7 grains of Unique, should I feel uncomfortable?

I have learned from and enjoyed the great postings on this forum for a while and now it is time to try it out actually reloading my own and shooting them at the range. I have a nice bench, good equipment, and ready for some good advice!!!

Thanks for everyone's time and I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

For 45 ACP, my target over all length is 1.250". It is what works in my varios 1911s. I know some folks load to 1.260".

Hope this helps.
