45 Auto Rim / 45 acp

A few years back I got a .45 ACP barrel/kit for a junk No.4 Enfield I had. Has a short SS barrel and shoots like a champ. I load to .45 Super for it.

I have always wanted to build a De Lisle carbine Enfield. Just too cool to be ignored.

H&R with a custom barrel, trigger job, pillar and glass bedded forend, and the scope base and barrel have been modified to the larger 8-40 screws.

Here are a couple of targets that I just shot this afternoon.

Just for general interest and a follow up, I just finished some velocity testing with 165 gr. and 185 gr. bullets in the rifle shown in my first post, and was able to get consistent velocities of 1,800 fps. with the lighter bullets, and 1,700 fps. with the heavier bullets.

Accuracy was identical to what was shown on the targets shot at 125 yards.

And trajectory was considerably less than that of the heavier 230 gr. and 250 gr. bullets!

I have seen bullets as light as 65 gr. (not a misprint) that will easily exceed 2,000 fps. from the 45 acp, with some reports showing that 2,200 fps. is possible with near explosive performance! At least me personally, I see no interest in a bullet like that, but none the less they are available, and quite expensive to boot!
