scary bullits - scary books

Today went into a bookstore and asked the owner (a nice liberal-minded middle-aged mother) if she could order a book on 'target shooting' for me. I've been a customer for years. Gave her the author's name: Brian Enos.

So Amazon pops up Brian's book on marksmanship, "Practical Shooting". There's a picture of Brian? on the cover, holding a pistol. Lady then notices that people who bought Brian's book also bought titles dealing with 'defense' and 'tactical' and 'combat' shooting. Uh-oh....

Lady promptly told me she found this all very "scary". I kept it simple and told her that 'target' shooting is like golf: you stand here and fire a ball in a curved line at a distant object over there. Whoever is steadiest gets closest to the pin and wins the game. She did not appear convinced.

Sheesh.

I'm telling you that if that washer was in Oklahoma, it would have never made the papers. The kid would have put the round in her pocket and taken it home to be with her other .45 rounds awaiting a practice session at the range!

Liberals, give them free ammo and they turn it into a freaking traumatic experience!

Clearly the work of Alkida. I hear they employed a robot to remove the shell and check the lint catcher.

Well it's not that bad everywhere. I graduated from a university in north louisiana in 2006 and although they did not officially allow "firearms on campus" they did allow students who lived on campus to store their firearms at the campus police station (which was on campus). Seemed pretty logical to me... or at least better than the alternative.

Luckily, years ago, my sister just told me about the rounds that jammed the coin machine at her bank.
