45 Colt -- Pet Loads?

I have several loads.
Light plinking w/255 LFN (Lee); 6.0gr of Clays (duplicates the 6.0 Red-Dot).
General use w/255 LFN; 8.2gr Universal (duplicates 8.5gr Unique); This is minimum load that obturates the cases in my Win M94 a keeps gas from blowing back from action into my face.

For my "Lipseys" special limited issue 5.5" BlackHawk, (.357mag frame and cylinder) I'm using the RCBS SAA 270gr SWC over 10.5gr of "LongShot". Gets 1,040fps and is near 1-hole accurate at 25yds.... Worked up to over 11.0, but 10.5 is more accurate and more than enough for anything in lower 48.

I've used TrailBoss but can't stand the smell.
On the otherhand, Vv N320 smell's like the .22lr of old days....

I bought a box of these to play with: Oregon Trail Laser-Cast Bullets 45 Colt (Long Colt) (452 Diameter) 250 Grain Lead Flat Nose, picked trailboss 'cause I had a lot of it on hand (I use it for subsonic loads for .308 - crop loss permit - year round corn rat control), 5.5 grains and a winchester large pistol primer.

Shooting these out of a 1957 2d Gen Colt SAA, I'm consistently hitting to point of aim out to about ten yards (on 6" steel and torso/tombstone plates). It's a very light recoiling but hard-hitting load. Haven't chronographed it it.

Start low, go slow, find the load that works for you.

Have fun.

I load two .454 round ball cast with #2 alloy and lubed with Lee liquid lube over 5.5 grs Bullseye. I seat top ball half way and crimp with Lee FCD. Gives a nice 2 hole group per shot from my 41/2" blackhawk, have used it in a Win. 16" barrel mod. 94 also.

Is anyone shooting reloads out of a polycarbon Judge? Not expecting accurate load, just tryin to save some money.

Thanks.

45 colt load

I use 6.5gr of TiteGroup, for Berry's or Hornady's xtp, both 230gr; get good accuracy... For a hunting load, 20.5gr of Win296 w/Sierra 300gr jsp or 25.0gr of Win296 w/Sierra 240gr jhc...
