I have two Ruger revolvers, a .44 Special and a .45 Colt. Both were bought new recently. The .44 Special is a natural. The grip is perfect, the sight picture works really well for me. The .45 isn't working out so well. The rear sight notch is much wider making it harder for me to center the front sight. The rear sight blade is loose, mostly in the front to back direction. The entire rear sight assembly is not nearly as nice as the one on the Special. Is is possible to get the "Micro" sight from the Special for the .45? Also is it possible to get the steel grip frame of the Special put on the .45? Thanks for any feedback.

The Micro rear sight of the flat-top is excellent. It won't fit the regular Blackhawk but there is the target rear sight from Bowen which is even better. I think they're around $80. The grip frame is not as easy. Putting the new steel XR3 on another gun is best done by a gunsmith. They don't swap as easily as other grip frames and do not have the "ears" that pop into slots on either side of the hammer slot. I had no luck at all getting a new XR3 to even bolt up to a Single Six. Others may have fared better.

Thanks, Craig! I ordered the Bowen sight, as well as a spring kit. I'll be content with the aluminum grip frame for now.
