I have a .45 flintlock CVA mountain rifle I bought at an estate auction 6 years ago. It is a super accurate shooter with browned barrel and browned metal parts. I have no idea what year it was made, or if it was a kit or factory. I love this rifle and as a western reenactor and avid deer hunter I would like to know if the percussion locks are still available and if one can convert her without making it permanent. With the weather around here (Kentucky) at deer season time, flintlocks would be fun, but not very practical if BP season is rainy (Usually is).

Thanks for any help.

Percussion locks are very likely still available at Deer Creek Products (they don't have a web site or email, so call them at 765-525-6181).

I don't know if a temporary conversion can be made without a new barrel or not. I'm sure someone at Deer Creek can help, though.

Thanks, I noticed the flash hole is a screw in type, so I thought a new nipple assembly might just screw in to replace it and then a percussion lock replacement would do the trick. I'll call them :)
