How about pictures of non-1911 .45's? I have a interest in buying a .45 caliber pistol and am not really interested a 1911. I would start the pictures if I had one to take a pic of but, I wouldn't be posting this thread if I did. :D

Show you non-1911 .45's please, any make and any size. :)

Here is the only non 1911, in .45, that I currently own.

Had one of these but I sold it for a 1911.

Still thinking about a SIG245 and/or CS45

Sadly, I know they make other than 1911s in .45 ACP, but so far, that is all I have. 2 Government models, 1 steel commander, and 1 Para Carry 3" model.

Unfortuntely the furthest I've strayed from the 1911 in 45ACP is a Para Ord 14-45 Ltd... So, 1911 purists might consider it a non-1911...

:p

Got to be the CZ97B. :D

George,
I can't believe you went with the Beretta over your old friend. :(

Although it may be lacking the good looks and features of the previous submissions, the EAA Witness can get the job done.
(not too expensive either!)

All great looking pistols!

As for the smaller sized .45's, I like the size of that Millennium Pro. I'm looking for one the size I can carry concealed easily via IWB. I checked with one of my dealers today and he can get me the stainless slide version for $325.00. It's a 10+1 gun and 23oz unloaded with a 3 1/2" bbl. Steelhead, how do you like yours?

Is there another non-1911 .45 around the size of the Taurus? George, how would your compact Cougar 8045 work for what I am looking for?

Marshall,

The closest in size would be the CS45.

I was between a CS45 and the Mil Pro and decided on the Taurus because it felt better and had 4 more rounds. I'm still interested in the CS45 and the Sig 245 but not because of any problems or issues with the Taurus.

As for the Taurus, I have no complaints and it does well for what it was designed for. It conceals easily and the sights are quick to pick up. I shoot it about as well as my 2 inch 637 (that being sufficient for 25 yards and under) which I feel is in a similar role. I had previously reported a FTF problem which I'm now pretty sure was ammo related. The only hiccup that I get, from time to time, is the slide going into battery if the mag is slammed home. But I've had this happen with other auto's as well.

One neat thing about the Mil Pro is that it will accept P14 hi-caps. I surprise a lot of shooters at the range when I fire 15 rounds from such a little pistol. It just keeps going and going and going.....

I got rid of the full size Cougar because it felt too big to only handle 8 rounds. I believe the mini only holds 6 and is the same pistol with the exception of the reduced pistol grip length. It was accurate and soft shooting but I haven't regretted selling it. I would consider buying it again if they increased the magazine to 10 rounds. They have the room to do so.

12 Volt Man - That 97B is beautiful! I've always loved 'em! Your pic skill is awfully good too. And I've always liked what your doing to the 97B grips . . . . . . You do still offer that grip modification don't you?

I was actually kinda hoping that you'd post a slightly angled pic so that we can see that stainless guide rod just a tad better. I love how well it is set off against the matte finish of the gun.

Talking about the "hiccup" of the slide going into battery when a mag is inserted...my brother has a PT140 and I thought that was a designed feature. Every time you give the new mag a good thumb to seat it the slide goes foward to load the round ASAP in order to keep you in the fight with the fewest number of required actions....I would assume that the PT145 is the same way.

Steelhead,

Thank you sir for in depth answer and Pics, great info! I had no idea about the Para mags, that's a plus, pretty cool! :D I bet that does indeed get some looks at the range! One more question, how controllable is the Mill Pro in .45 ACP? Keep in mind I, like you, also shoot a stout J-Frame. I imagine my all steel Model 60 with .357's acts similar to your 15oz Model 637 with 125gr .38+p.

Benjamin, I got one a them. :D Nice rifle sir! ;)

DDGator,

I want one of those!!!

Marshall,

I'm not super recoil sensitive (usually I judge recoil by "that hurt" or "that didn't") so give this a large grain of salt.

To me, the Mil Pro feels about the same as .38 +P's in my 640. It is way softer than the 637. Because it is an auto, and the grip has more surface area, the recoil is spread out more. At least that is how I figure it.

My normal "carry load" is 185 +P Golden Sabers because of the short barrel. I also shoot 230's but not for carry.

Here are some comparisions between my 637, 1911 5 inch and 1911 4 inch.
Sorry for the quality but I did these on the fly and Ichiro I ain't.

Gary,
Here is the other angle. Still doing the grips. Every once in a while someone wants it done.
