Hi
I'm a fan of .45 Super. I fire it out of two 1911's timed for it.
Currently I've got it loaded with 230 Grain Buffalobore JHP's, at 1100 fps.
I'm considering buying more ammunition for it.
Problem with .45 Super right now is the only person that seems to load for it is Buffalobore.
I like Truncated cone bullets. They offer this:
230 grains at 1100 fps.

Now, while the smallest guy that ever attacked me was 240-250 pounds, I wonder if that isn't a bit of overkill, penetration wise? It would be fine in the house, but, in an urban setting it could go a long way.
They also have a 255 grain Hardcast that would do even more of the same.
The ones that I am thinking of trying are the 185 grain, 1300 fps loads, and maybe the old standby,
the 200 grains at 1200 fps. This was the load Detonics settled on as the best compromise for LEO.
Now I would love to see a 185 grain Truncated cone, going 1350 fps or so, but, they don't offer that.
Still, the 185's give you 10MM ballistics.
Another issue is what about buying a Glock 29 and converting it to .45 Super?
Anyone done that?
I like the heavier slide on the 10MM, since it's actually designed for this level loads. If so, who's barrel do you use, and what does it take to make it work?
