Just for fun I'm putting together a 45 Super setup for my Glock 30. I've already ordered the barrel (Lone Wolf threaded), steel guide rod, heavier recoil springs and Starline brass. The last item is a compensator/brake and I can't find a lot of good info online about what's the best choice, just that it's recommended for heavy 45 Super and 460 Rowland. Anyone have experience with these?

Well a couple of things. What our you wanting to do with you comp? Slow the slide down? help fight recoil/ and or muzzle raise?

The heaviest comp will slow the slide speed so it doesn't beat your gun to death, the ports on top are to force the muzzle down and the ones on the side are to help fight rearward recoil.

The reason it is recommended for the 460 rowland is to slow the slide speed. For 45 super I'm guessing your gun will be fine. Now because your are slowing the slide speed you will not need a Heavier recoil spring but a light up if you were to use stock .45 acp ammo. With the 45 super I can't tell you what springs you'll need with the comp but I'm thinking the stock spring or lighter.

The main reason would be to slow slide speed and unlocking time. Recoil reduction is fine as a secondary effect. I'll adjust springs as necessary to get it working smoothly. Most of the time it won't be used for 45 Super and will just have a thread protector, but for those times I decide to get a little wild I'd like to have one.

I load .45 Super for my stock M&P .45 only once in new head stamped brass. It's a impressive round!

Now if there was a M&P 10mm I would be one happy shooter. :)

Any of those comps should work fine. I load .45 Super out of a KKM 4 port compensated barrel and the ports help when shooting a 250gr XTP to 1300 fps.
