Hey folks,

I am loading some light loads for my 454 Casull to shoot in my Alaskan. I've been using the Hornady 250g XTP which is a .452 bullet. I notice that Nosler has a sportsman bulk pack of 250 JHP bullets which are .451 which I assume are for 45 Colts, not 45 Autos.

What's the difference and will it matter for light loads? Thanks,

No, it won't matter.

Those Nosler bullet bulk packs have shot real well for me in .44 Spl/.44 Mag.

Theirs are the normal .429", while Hornadys .44 bullets are .430".

I shoot a lot of 45 Colt.
.451 is usually the size of Jacketed/Plated bullets.
.452 is usually the size of lead

The Hornady 250g XTP is also intended for the .45LC. It will work for light loads, but for legitimate .454 velocities and better penetration for the intended use of the caliber, I'd stick with the 240gr and 300gr XTP-Mags. Speers 300gr Deep Curl bullets(also .452) are also intended for .454 velocities whereas the rest of their .45cal line-up isn't.
