I don't believe Hornday makes a 325 gr bullet in .452 diameter. The make a 325gr FTX in .458 diameter but no 325gr XTP in either size.

I have had very good results with the A-Frame Bullets, Devastating on Game..

.460s&w won't safely get 2500-2700 with a 300+ bullet. There's also no .452" 325grn bullet from Hornady, or even a 45cal 325grn XTP - you're thinking of the .458" 325grn FTX.

I don't hunt the 300XTP mag from the .460 - maybe only if you're planning to have at least 100-150yrds of air under it before impact. It's hard enough to keep the bullet together out of the 454c.

Rifles and handguns kill differently. A 30-06 which mushrooms 2x, exits the backside, and only retains 70% weight in deer is doing fine. A handgun bullet looking like that upon recovery is really a failure in the eyes of most of us shooting it. That's why you hear guys like Max Prasac and CraigC talking down the XTP's - they'll kill deer, but failure is failure.

That 325 A-Frame is a fantastic bullet. Even when it hits too fast, it won't shed anything more than the tip, and the shank powers through like a hardcast.

The A-frame is a fantastic bullet, with perhaps the broadest capability range of any expanding bullet. We've seen them do very well on everything from Spanish goats to buffalo and watusi.

Regarding the 460XVR, Engineers have it at over 2300 fps.

THIS engineer has fed a lot of H110 and Lil Gun to his 460, and it ain't getting the 300's to 2300. ;) The 200's are screamers though.

Always with the tricks in advertising, throw up a light bullet velocity and talk about "big bore..." They needed something to make it seem like it really stands tall over 454C... Neglect the two are opposite sides of the sidewalk. Same reason we have kinetic energy printed on the box... Big numbers sure sound great...

Well that XTP took out the heart and pass thru today on a medium doe about 60yards broadside. Hole was nice and big with lots or blood to track. I think 1800fps is just right for this round from a muzzleloader.

Went hunting with my nephew this evening, didn't see anything bigger than a squirrel, until we started back home, and then three does were standing on the side of the road, and I swear they were laughing at us. :)

That was me for the last 15yrs. I have been at this 16yrs and never seen anything or missed shots. Met a guy a few years ago who kind of mentored me and helped me and now I'm tagged out for Ohio. 3 deer in a month! Keep at it you guys will score one.
