.45acp and hs-7

I have a bottle of HS-7 and I have not been able to find a load for a 230gr. LRN .45acp load. If anyone can help me out on this one it would really help out.

Eight grs. will put you around 820 fps (5" barrel). HS-7 and Win. 571 are the same powder-data is interchangeable.

Curious Huntershooter...I looked over all my load manuals and found no load data for either one of those powders. I had to go on the internet to find a burn rate chart comprehensive enough to even show W-571. Not wanting to be the skeptic here, but...Pale Horse. I would find written data so stating load data for HS-7 or W-571 before I even consider using it for my .45 ACP

Confirmed, 8 grains is a safe starting load, good for about 11000-12000 PSI.
Curious, my data only shows about 700-750 FPS at that speed.
9 grains should put you at/around 850, work up to it really slow and carefully.
Book loads go up to 10 grains with plated bullets for 900 FPS, at pressures of 20000 psi. Be careful.

I've used HS 7 in .357, .44 mag and .45 Colt but haven't tried it in other calibers. The Speer manuals 12 & 13 both give HS 7 data for their GD hollow point bullets. Starting load of 8.5 grs. to 9.5 max but be sure to check this yourself!! I can't find any loads for lead bullets. Might be a bit too slow burning for best lead loads in .45 ACP.

If your just shooting a 230gr lrn use Clays. Soft and Clean, plus its accurate.
HS7 is is too slow for the 45.
If you must, try AA5, Unique or Universal Clays.
