what the starting load for 45acp using a 230gr rn cast bullet with unique? The reason I am asking is because my reloading book doesnt list that data........thanks
Since I use Hodgdon Clays from 4.5 to 5.5 grains . . .
Talk about a clean burning .45 ACP, with excellent performance! These are not hunting loads, but perform well in indoor ranges with 185 grain plated-target loads. cliffy
The Lyman 49th Edition does list a 225gr LRN bullet which is close enough for the data to be interchangeable within reason with a 230gr LRN bullet. (Lyman lists a 225gr bullet because that's what their bullet mold is made for) Lyman lists a charge range of 5.5gr to 7.3gr Unique.
My goto .45 Auto load is 5.5gr W231 under any 230gr bullet.

In that case you need to learn to use the on-line data from Alliant Powders, the makers of Unique. They show a load for LRN and FMJ on their web site.

Lee manual starts at 5.0 grains Unique for 230gr LRN. I don't remember what the max is because 5.0 grains works so well in my pistols that I only load that charge.
