45LC from 1858 Conversion. Bullet suggestions needed.

I am loading .45LC loads for a 1858 Remington conversion (BP revolver using R&D cylinder conversion) using Starline brass, and Tightgroup or Trailboss powders. I would like suggestions on specific bullets from anyone who has loaded for one of these revolvers. These will be fairly low pressure "cowboy" loads in the 750-900fps range. Less than 10,000CUP. Will mainly be used for "plinking" and some SASS and CAS matches.

I'm thinking either a 200gr, 230gr, or 250gr Lead RNFP. I would like to buy in bulk. (atleast 500 bullets at a time) The revolver is 1 in 30 ROT for .454 round balls, and I've been told the short 200gr RNFP may shoot well as the profile is not much different than a round ball, but I have no first hand experience with this.

Oregon Trail 200gr LRNFP. Great bullet.

A 200gr bullet will be cheaper to shoot than a 250/255gr bullet. I like a 230gr LRN bullet for bulk shooting because I can use it for my .45 Colt and .45 Auto. Tennessee Valley Bullets are great as are Missouri Bullets. Oregon Trail bullets aren't bad but they cost too much and are too hard for the low pressures and velocity you are shooting.

BTW, try some Trail Boss in your .45 Colt ammo, you won't be sorry...

If your Remmy is a Pietta, heavy boolits like the 255 grainer are not very accurate in mine due to the slow rifling twist. I find a 185 grain SWC cast boolit with 6.5 grains of Trail Boss is the most accurate for me.
