I have had the idea of a big bore lever carbine/revolver combo in the back of my head for a while. I was in a LGS doing some trading, and ended up taking a Puma M-92 in .480 Ruger as part of a trade. It wouldn't have been my first choice in chamberings, but I have read good things about it despite its commercial failure, and the trade included and enough components to load several hundred rounds (new brass and a mix of lead and jacketed bullets). If it works out, it works out, otherwise, I am not into it for all that much. I haven't fired it yet, but it looks like a hoot, and that is one very large hole in the end of that barrel...

Which brings me to my question--the revolver part of the combo. I would like something single action with a blued finish, but it is looking like that might not be feasible? I can't find any current production revolvers chambered in this cartridge, and on the used market I see the Ruger Super Redhawk, and the Taurus Raging Bull. Are there any other handguns, preferably SA, that were chambered in .480 Ruger or .475 Linebaugh?

Thanks for your help on this!

Magnum Research chambers their BFR in 475, and Freedom Arms also produces a 475 Linebaugh. Both are single action, but I don't think either offers anything in blued, only stainless.

Two great tips, thanks! The retail on those Freedom Arms revolvers is really high, what sort of prices are people finding them for? I may just need to wait to find a Super Redhawk used somewhere... Too bad so few Alaskans were made in .480.
