I already have a Ruger 7.5" Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger and have nearly finished developing a fairly stout round for this that I'll plan to post in the handloading section using Missouri Bullet Company 340 Grain thumpers and Ramshot Enforcer powder. Love the Super Redhawk and it's in the older Target Grey which looks great!

That said, I'd like to pair this revolver with a Single Action and would like the option of loading up to .475 Linebaugh (assuming I could find brass). The Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley seems like a nice option but it's hard to find and will not provide the option of .475 Linebaugh.

I'm most interested in the 7.5 inch barrel length of the BFR but would also consider the 6.5". Was wondering if anyone had one of these and could provide an actual weight and/or some shooting feedback, particularly some feedback on .475 vs 480 in these :)

Thanks!

If you want a hard hitting big bore, get one, I enjoy mine very much. As for recoil, it is stout but that’s why we buy the things…:D. Go to Starline and order brass for it https://www.starlinebrass.com/475-linebaugh-brass even if it says backorder it only takes a week or two for your order to be met. Here is my 7.5” barrel .475.
As for a comparison between a .480 I haven’t a clue, I have never shot a .480 through it.

My God, that's a big Revolver!! Love it!!

I assume that is the 7.5" barrel?

Appreciate the brass advice, I might go ahead and do that as it worked out for me to find .480 Ruger brass months before I actually got a revolver that could use it :)

I cut my BFR just past the ejector rod because I wanted a "packing" gun.
I've never loaded Linebaugh brass, IMHO there's minimal gain especially since I found a Keith style SWC that seats to a very long OAL I'm getting 1200 FPS with this 420 gr slug.

Love the photos!

Does anyone, by chance, have a weight for the .475 BFR with the 7.5” barrel? The Magnum Research site is not clear.

Well, I finally picked one of these up. Got the 475/480 in 6.5” since the 7.5 version seems to be out of stock again. Love the proportions and barrel length! What a beautiful gun, haven’t got to the range with it yet but will soon.

I almost have my Missouri Bullet Company 340 grain, .476 “thumper” load worked out using Enforcer and WLP primers in a 7.5” Redhawk. Will post that in the reloading forum soon.
