Provided this is the end of day one with it...but it's done pretty good.

I went from a on the verge of failure Calvin Klein 1.5" belt (was stiff enough, but the leather was so stretched at the buckle it was tearing through)...to this 5.11 I got for $38 at the local "tactical supply" (yeah, they refer to themselves like this, but they seem to be a pretty good shop overall, and an amazing shop for the concealed carrier as they have practically anything). I went there because they had the belts...but hey I might go back, the staff are pretty up front folks, and some of the most gentlemanly I've seen in the area.

Well enough polishing about the shop....the belt. It's definately a medium gloss finish, not super dressy or super casual, somewhere in between. To me it's almost awkwardly in between, but that's good as it matches the steel clip of my IWB holster in terms of sheen, so it helps in concealment in that regards.

The internal stiffener....well I hope it holds up. It's sure stiff though, which is taking some getting used to. So far it's been a full day with it on and I feel pretty good, although I probably should have bought it a size larger than my old CK (I thought my CK was 38, it was 40...bought a 40-42 belt....doh). That's fine though, I need to lose some weight anyways. :)

As for use....the thickness of the belt did make it difficult to fit in the beltloops of my wrangler carpenter jeans...they're used to belts about 2/3rds as thick as this one....fortunately the angle cut on the tip of the belt made it easier to run through the loops. This is one belt I suggest running through the pants before putting the pants on...at least if you're a roundfellow like myself.

Overall, I'll know how this belt fares in a month or two of daily use, but so far I like it.

If anyone else has any good, bad or ugly about these leather belts, go ahead and share folks.

Just over a month later, my observations:

It's softer than before, but still crazy stiff. The belt has deformed heavily at the eyelet that I buckle it, to the point that if I lose weight, it's going to be replaced.

Comfort is better than it was, comfort while carrying has improved greatly as well, though is still not as comfortable as the Calvin Klein belt was.

Concealment is still solid.

Ironically I pocket carry a smaller pistol anymore, but continue to wear the belt as it does it's job so nicely. I think I should have paid $20 more for a nicer belt however, but I don't feel like I overpaid for this one.
