i'm still trying to talk myself into getting a suppressor. i've pretty much decided i want one in 5.56mm to start with at least. that will allow me to use it on my ars, my mini-14 and my .22s if i want to thread them and/or attach flash suppressors. i think i'd like to get one that attaches to the standard m16 flash suppressor for convenience and so that i might be able to bring it with me on my next deployment. that brings me to my first question: are there any federal laws that would keep me from bringing it out of the country and back? i know i can move it to other states at will as long as it is legal in that state and if it weren't i could probably check it in with my armorer and get a hand receipt. my other question is what thoughts you guys have on the models which attach to a nato flash suppressor. i've looked at the knight's armament version and the gemtech halo but i haven't heard of any other models that don't require bare threads or a proprietary flash suppressor. i'm leaning towards the knight's armament product for no real reason than that i've seen it used and it is current issue which might smooth things over if i get a chance to deploy wiht it. are there any other models you'd suggest? what are the pros and cons of the various models? thank you in advance for your input.

I have a Gemtech M4-96D (bilock). A friend has a HALO. Never handled the Knights.

It puts a lot of weight out at the muzzle-- 25oz, which can turn even a nice handly M4 into something longer (just) and heavier than an A2.

The HALO is a good 'can.

If I were to do it again, I'd look for one a little lighter, of the "reflex" style (less overall length added)

the reflex type is the kind that has a fair portion of the suppressor behind the muzzle, right? i'm guessing they don't make any like that that will attach directly to the standard flash suppressor, right? if they did, that would be about perfect.

okay, that makes the mounting issue a little less important. i was originally leaning towards the m4-2000 but after seeing the knight's product i started thinking more about interchangability. omni looks good, though, thanks for the advice.

"Yes, you would be breaking federal law by taking your suppressor on your next deployment."

Can you give us a reference for that.
Just curious.

i've been shopping for a 223 can since about may of this year. i finally purchased last week. i bought the smithenterprises can (same guy who makes the vortex flash hiders, and their cans QD to the vortex).

i'm not recommending them (yet) just saying check them out before you buy. and of course, visit silencertests.com
