.50 Beowulf Uppers for an AR?

Just wondering how many of you have any experience with a .50 Beowulf in the AR platform? When you replace your 5.56 upper, do you need to swap out buffer springs for what I assume will be considerably more recoil?

I have an A2 stock with standard buffer and spring on mine, works fine.

I put a 458 socom together and RRA sent a different buffer spring but I do not think it is absolutley necessary.

Bolt velocities are similar to .223, so a new buffer is unneccessary.

I ran my A/A Beowulf upper on a Bushmaster lower with no mods for a while with no problems until I got the dedicated A/A lower for it. Midwayusa is supposed to be selling barrels for it now if you want to convert a standard AR.

Collapsible stocks do not hold up well on the Wulf from what I have read. That was hower the way I ran mine until I got the new lower with the Ace stock.

The reason full/A2 stock are recommended for this upper is because of the rather "stout" recoil characteristics. The manufacturers of this weapon realized early that even pencil necked geeks and "wimmenfolk" might like to shoot it. Thus the recommendation .

Personally, I run my Beo upper on a Seekins Precision lower with a Magpul UBR stock. Yes, I use a Sprinco red spring. I stayed with the normal buffer because it hits my shoulder lighter. (arthritis in my right shoulder)

You younger guys wont need to worry about that yet.

My one and only STRONG recommendation for a modification is get at muzzle brake on it asap. They really help with muzzle whip and help ammeliorate the recoil to some extent.

I don't think the recoil and muzzle flip is that bad so no brake for me. I did however have my barrel threadded and added a birdcage flash hider just for grins. No real help to the gun but it looks cool.
