So I got to take my new Wulf out to the range today. Shoot Straight in Fort Meyers, great place.
I bought a New Frontier polymer AR lower, I questioned wether or not it would hold up to the recoil of the big bad wulf, but for $150 for a completed lower with stock I wouldn't be out much if it didn't.
So about the lower, the price was right... very right. Only $150 for a fully assembled and functional lower with a stock! I bought 3 beowulf bullets with the extra money I saved
Its polymer, plastic for those whose vocab is on par with mine. Its light, only 7oz lighter than my Al receiver, but it feels a lot lighter. Everything except the buffer tube is polymer, even the fire controls. Im okayish with that, I'll see how she holds together in the long run.
Customer service was second to none. I got email responses in minutes and it took less than 24 hrs to get it shipped. Excellent job on their part.
The fit was tight, MUCH tighter than my varmint gun. The plastic seems to have a SLIGHT amount of give to it so it holds the upper very tightly. It takes a little smacking around to get it off once the pins are out.
The beowulf, for those that have never shot it, is not a round to mess around with. It laughs at your 9mm vs 45 acp debates!
Now this range trip was not without its hiccups. For one, it was indoors. After I touched off the first round it was silent with every head poking around the dividers to see who's gun blew up. One lady referred to it as a cannon
I did have one hang up in feeding. Sadly it was when my sister in law was shooting, but she did the right thing and set the gun down... instead of muzzle sweeping the room going "O...M...G... its broke, I need someone to fix it" (yeah, its happened, not with her, but others). I modified standard AR mags but it took a while to get right. see frustration in the next pic (hint: always bring pliers and files to the range)
All in all though I was throughly impressed. I need a different sight, this one seemed up to the task, but the recoil seemed to beat it half to death. It held its zero though.
At 25 yards off hand:
The sister had a blast and loved the satisfying BOOM it made. Her boyfriend has an AK which he described as a "Mans weapon". She showed him the Beowulf now and I think he ordered a couple boxes of Extenz to counter act the inadequacy.

The rifle rocked her a bit, but she loved every shot sent down range, she only weighs 105 lbs, so for a 9 lbs rifle shooting a beowulf I give her two thumbs up!
