What every happened to the .50 Beowolf in the AR? I guess it didn't go anywhere because of the weird ammo and having to reload but what do you guy's think? I actually had the oppertunity to buy an M4 with both the .223 uppper, and a .50 Beowolf upper for $1500.00 but didn't and kinda now wish I had.

They're still around. I think Cabelas is even still carrying .50 Beowulf uppers. Ammo is available loaded as well.

The caliber and the other super-heavy AR calibers like .458 SOCOM and .499 Leitner-Wise are probably never going to be anything but an unusual niche sort of set up, but they have their fans and I don't think the Beowuld and company are going extinct any time in the near future.

The .50 Beowulf is still running along. I think the .499 LW died out. The .458 SOCOM is doing ok.

I have a .50 Beowulf and it is fun to shoot. I put a lot of work into updating the Wikipedia page on the .50 Beowulf - used photos of my gun. Check it out at .50 Beowulf at Wikipedia. There are lots of links from the page as well.

Sniper,

I have one. Other than it being an AR I love it (I hate cleaning AR's). At a distance of 100 yards, with an Eotech, standing position I can knock bowling pins flying 4 out of 5 times. And I mean flying. In fact I had to get a new set from a police chief I know after ruining my last set of pins after shooting them only a few times. A lot of short range firepower.

A few notes; If you have an adjustable stock make sure the adjusting pin is metal, not plastic. Also I had to put a limbsaver on mine, otherwise just a few shots and I was done for the day (broken collarbone as a kid). I've had about 150 rounds through mine, no jams. I haven't shot for accuracy, but I'm guessing mine is around 2MOA at 100 yards.

Power

Is it possible to get a stronger bolt, or does anyone make a stonger bolt to allow for the .500 Mag power level loads?

THAT WOULD BE ONE SWEET CARBINE! :what:
