What is the difference between a full auto and a non full auto bolt carrier group?
Why would I want one vs the other?

Weight/machining. A semi-auto carrier is cut further back on the bottom, so that it can't trip an auto sear. If you don't have a registered lower, and aren't going for a superlight build, you wouldn't ever notice the difference.

Damm I wasn't going to buy any more AR parts. But at that price.

But you know if you don't your ARs won't multiple and we all know what happens. Just ask Gunny!

Seriously, I keep seeing these and at that price it's hard to resist.

I guess a few won't hurt too much said the future AR addict.

I would have bought a couple of them to keep on hand but I already have one as a spare and all my builds are side charging uppers anyway.

picked up two. the ONLY thing I saw that I didn't like...seems like the carrier gas key wasn't staked down too well?

other than that, after a good cleaning they look damn nice at the price.

To anyone who bashed PSA, it’s difficult to deny that PSA has likely put more ARs into the hands of U.S. citizens than anyone else. Obama and Billary might be PSAs only competition.

PSA certainly is moving a lot of rifles and receivers in the last 10yrs, but don’t neglect - there were a dozen or so companies who were the only game in town for a few DECADES before PSA opened up shop. I’d be very interested to see the numbers. PSA might be the fastest seller right now, but I’d be very surprised (maybe absolutely, ridiculously baffled) if they had the highest lifetime gross volume.

It was 2016 when Palmetto State Armory started to have over 50% of the entire AR-15 market. I don't know the exact figures, but it has been at least 51% of the entire sales per year for 3 years now.

To put that another way, it is believed that PSA is cranking out over 1 million ar-15 rifles and rifle kits/ uppers per year.

@ar-newbie, do you have total volume numbers for comparison? Being half of the market for 3 years is impressive, and I’m sure they did well in the last ~10yrs they have been selling rifles, but there are companies out there who have been selling AR’s for 30-40yrs longer than PSA, in a much smaller competition roster where only a few names owned the entire market, AND including 2 or 3 booms where high numbers of AR’s reached the market.

Exact numbers can be found at the BATFE annual manufactures report.

I looked up various sources on total number of ar-15 rifles per year, and figured out what just over 50% of that would be, along with some daily barrel production numbers I was able to find from DC Machine which is PSA's in house machine shop.

Some annual production figures are discussed in the following article..

Go dig through the link I posted to Varminterror.

Just looking at 2017 data.

S&W produced. 265356 rifles.
Anderson produced 211382 "Others/Misc"

PSA produced 161694. Pistols/Rifles and Others/Misc" combined.

Thats just two company's compared to all PSA's offerings.

Obviously cannot break down the Giants i.e. Rugers 659657 rifles

I think your claim is far from reality.
